Best Hockey Teams At The Moment

Let me begin this article by saying: de gustibus non est disputandum (or, as we would say “You shouldn’t dispute about different opinions” – as today, I wanted to share an article that might cause some controversy between hockey fans. Namely, I created a list with some of the best hockey teams at the moment, and I wanted to share it with you and see whether you agree or not. I tried my best to stay objective and minimize my bias towards hockey teams that I prefer (that really weren’t brilliant currently) and include teams that I don’t like (but that were absolute beasts this season!). I’d just like to let you know that I will be talking about NHL teams (National Hockey League) and their rankings in general – I didn’t want to focus on divisions for this blogpost. We can save that maybe for a later article!

Without any further ado, here are some of the best hockey teams at the moment:

Number one this season has to be the Florida Panthers!

If you followed hockey this season, there is no doubt that they crossed your mind when you read the title of this article, because they truly, truly are the best this season. Even a few dramatic games at the beginning of the season couldn’t make them come down off of their throne! I have to say that even though they weren’t my favorite, they are slowly growing on me. Personally, I think that the change of the team’s manager was a great game changer!

Number two this season: Carolina Hurricanes!

Ah yes, Carolina Hurricanes. The old wise men of the NHL are back at the top once again. While I admit I saw them having some difficulties during the off-season, they have been nothing short of incredible this season!

Number three this season: Edmonton Oilers!

I know, I know – how dare I place them this high up the ladder? But to be honest, they have really impressed me this season. Their incredible players shone in every game of theirs, scoring many, many goals (and points at the same time). We might have been sleeping on them – it’s as if they are the underdogs of this season! So, maybe, if I were you, I’d try to give them a chance.

Number four this season: Philadelphia Flyers

Okay, maybe I am a little bit biased, but they really aced some of their games this season. They were even competing for the first place at the beginning of the season – if that isn’t something to celebrate then I don’t know what is.

Number five this season: Colorado Avalanche

While they also weren’t brilliant at the beginning of the current season, I do think that their most recent wins have to be praised. It might be due to the change of their goalkeeper – he has yet to get comfortable with playing on the new team. But so far, so good. My gut feeling says that they will be celebrating at the end of this season; I guess time will tell.
